Why quality always wins / by Elaine So

If you want quality, of products and results.  Then don't compromise.  Be uncompromising in your respect for your health and your body.  Maybe you're not up for reading all the finer details but lets just remember this, when it comes to our bodies and our health, we can choose to prioritise these things.  After all, if we don't have our health, what do we really have?  With respect to ingesting, topical application and diffusing of oils into the air we breathe, it just isn't worth compromising for the short term savings.  It's your health and we're not about band-aids, we're after long term, vibrant living.

Not all ‘essential oils’ are created equal. Country or region of sourcing, distillation and testing processes all play a vital role in determining purity and potency of essential oils. It is also important to recognise that price often reflects quality based on the extra attention given to sourcing and testing methods. When purchasing an essential oil for a relatively lower price, there is often no guarantee this ‘essential oil’ will not contain fillers or synthetics and that is both pure and potent.

doTERRA created its own testing process, calling it CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade®. The CPTG process certifies that there are no added fillers, synthetic ingredients, or harmful contaminants in their essential oils that would reduce their efficacy. doTERRA then goes a step further, putting all their products and the packaging through a battery of tests to ensure a long and effective shelf-life. This protocol ensures potency, purity, and consistency batch to batch. The CPTG testing begins immediately after distillation with each oil being reviewed for its chemical composition. A second round of testing is carried out at our production facility to ensure that what was distilled and tested is the same essential oil as was received. A third review of the chemistry of the oil is conducted in a three-phase procedure as the oils are packaged into the bottles we use as consumers. Each of these tests confirms that the essential oil is free
of contaminants and unexpected alterations during production.

The CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade quality protocol
includes the following tests:

Organoleptic testin: Sight, smell, taste and touch.

Microbial testing: No contamination during filling proces.

Gas chromatography: Determines composition of the oi.

Mass spectrometr: Synthetics are not presen.

Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR): Ensures potency
and consistency of each batch of oi.

Chirality testing: New testing method to ensure synthetic free,
can sometimes be missed in the mass pectrometry test.

Isotopic analysis: Determines the level of the chemical building
blocks (isotopes) present in the oi.

Heavy metal testing: Shows if any heavy metals are present,
pure oils have none.

As a takeaway and to keep it simple to remember,
every batch is tested at more than one stage from distillation.
